IPDI Condemns Military Seige In Ofunama Community Waterways.

............Suggesting that matters should be handle in a diplomatic way's being in democratic regime.

Justice T..

Edo State____ The attention of Ijaw People's Development Initiative, IPDI, has been drawn to a military unwarranted seige in Ofunama community in Ovia South West LGA of Edo State for undisclosed reasons, causing palpable tension among residents of the area on 18th Sept,2019.

We strongly condemn the military action as it is a threat to the existing peace in Ofunama community and its environ. It is expected that we use diplomacy to handle some public matters being in democratic regime.

We were told that there is an attempt ongoing to move away the floating NNPC fuel badge in Ofunama by the invading military personnel has it refused to give explanation of its actions.

It is unfortunate that Ijaw communities suffered undue militarization at every slightest provocation. We are humans and should be treated as such. I want to believe that the NNPC fuel badges in Niger Delta region belongs to the federal government, and we are not aware of any order to evacuate it.  Why they want to evacuate that of Ofunanama is unknown.

It is our warning that those behind the illicit act should desist from it. Our region should not only good for oil exploration and militarization but should be equally good for development.

We are calling on relevant authorities and well meaning stakeholders in the country to prevail and stop militarization of Ijaw communities in Niger Delta region.

Signed....

Comrade Ozobo Austin
National President

Mayor Timi OGOBIRI
Spokesman
