NDDC: Niger Delta Youths Urged President Buhari, National Assembly To Review NDDC Act, Says Inclusion Of Northerner/Westerner Reps In NDDC Is An Oppression Of Minority Ethnic Groups.

Justice T.

Warri_____ A Niger Delta human rights group under the auspices of Concerned Citizens For Izon-ebe Development (CCFID), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly to as a matter of urgency review the NDDC establishment Act, in order to remove the clause that make provision for the representation of Northerners and Westerners in the commission.

The group in a Press Statement signed by its National President, Comrade Oyinbi Onduku stressed that, the Inclusion of Northerners and Westerners Reps in the board of NDDC is a deliberate oppression of minority ethnic group by the majority ethnic groups in Nigeria.

In his reaction, Comrade Onduku stated that; " In a government whereby injustice becomes law, the people have a duty to resist that government. The National Assembly should as a matter of urgency, review the NDDC establishment Act in order to ensure peace, fairness and justice in Nigeria."

According to Onduku ," There is no common sense whereby a Northerner and Westerner who have nothing to do with Niger Delta development affairs are forcefully imbedded in the establishment of NDDC Act, just because the Hausa's and Yoruba's are the majority ethnic groups in the National Assembly. If l may ask, whose interest is the Hausa or Yoruba man protecting in NDDC ? This is a misplaced priority, waist of Niger Delta Peoples resources and oppression of the minority ethnic group in the highest order. "

" Onduku further stressed that, the inclusion of Northerners and Westerners reps in a commission specifically established for the development of a particular region due to marginalization, simply signifies a deliberate oppression and injustice against the Niger Delta people by the Hausa-Fulanis and the Yoruba's.

We therefore, call on President Muhammadu Buhari, the Senate President, Sen.Ahmed Lawal and the Speaker House of Reps, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila to as a matter of urgency, and  for the interest of peace to reign in the Niger Delta region, to quickly review the Act to remove the clause of Northerners and Westerners representatives in the board of NDDC, Comrade Onduku stated."

Don't Insult Leaders Comr. Oki Advice Bayelsa Youth.

Breaking News....

Don't Insult Leaders Comr. Oki Advice Bayelsa Youth.

Justice T.

Bayelsa State_____The Coordinator of the Niger Delta Self Determination Movement, Comrade Oki Tony has warned that, no Ijaw leader must be insulted, maligned or defamed because of politics.

Oki Tony who doubles as the Current Secretary of IYC National Action Committee in a statement said the Niger Delta Self Determination Movement has been watching keenly how some desperate politicians who are fighting for their personal interests have been continuously trying to defame the person of Retired Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah who is widely known as an honest, dependable and perfect gentleman, and warned that the group has a way of dealing with such persons.

Lamenting how the Ijaw man is fast loosing some vital values such as respect and regard for leaders, Oki Tony said as a people we must learn from the Yurobas who know how to honour and respect their leaders, saying whoever does not respect leaders will not be respected when he or she becomes a leader too.

He said apart from the exalted office he occupies, His Excellency Retired Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah has an uncommon pedigree that is respected nationally, stressing that anyone who insult him or any Ijaw leader unduly, will not only be cursed by the Ijaw gods but face massive rejection.

Oki Tony who said if politics is a game, then there must be fair play in it, also used the opportunity to advise all players on the political turf to play without bitterness and acrimony, saying what should be considered first is the interests of Bayelsans.

The Opuama born Comrade in the Ijaw Struggle however used the opportunity to thank His Excellency Retired Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John for the maturity displayed in the midst of all these, especially for ignoring the overbearing attitude of thesame people he brought to the Restoration Government, adding that he has proven beyond all reasonable doubt that he is competent to govern the State if given the opportunity.

He therefore called on Bayelsans to disregard those mischief makers with a bad history of pulling down those who lift them up, and support the Jonah's gubernatorial ambition saying he is a leader who remains focused and committed to serving the people in spite of the challenges that comes, he alleged.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, has assured Nigerians that the activities of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, would come to an end, if the country adopts an Igbo presidency come 2023.

Some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Disclosing this via an email he sent to Vanguard, President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi okechukwu isiguzoro said that Igbo Presidency in 2023 would make NdIgbo happier and activities of IPOB would fizzle out like a vapour.

He said that South-east has been marginalized for long and as such needs to be compensated.

His words, “IPOB activities will bring the realization of Nigeria President of Igbo stock. Nigerians might opt for full compensation for the marginalized South East by voting en mass for an Igbo to emerge as President in 2023 as they compensated the Yorubas in 1999.

When OPC, NADECO and Abiola issue came up, Nigerians compensated Yorubas by voting Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as President.

We understood that the activities of Niger Delta militants led to Dr. Good luck Jonathan becoming Vice President and later President. I was used to quell the situation. We equally know how Biko Haram insecurity led to the emergency of President Muhammadu Buhari. So what’s good for the Goose is also good for the Gander.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide assures Nigerians especially Arewa Consultative Forum, Northern Elders Forum, and Coalition of Northern groups, that we are determined to seal our aged longed relationship as old allies since 1960 as we commence our consultation meetings soon.

That Igbo Presidency 2023 with a Northerner as Vice President will end the activities of IPOB. Igbo will present one of the current South East Governors as a worthy successor of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

We thereby pass vote of confidence on the current leadership of South East Governors led by Gov umahi, assuring them of our respect and support.

We will do anything to protect them from any harassment or blackmail from any desperate group.

Nigeria’s Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi has reacted to reports that Nigerian politicians are afraid to travel abroad following threats of assault by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Amaechi, who spoke to LEGIT, revealed that he is not afraid and would ‘defend’ himself if attacked.

Recall that the former deputy senate president, Senator Ike Ekweremadu,
was attacked by some IPOB members in Germany a few weeks ago. This has heightened cautiousness among politicians concerning their safety abroad.
“What do you mean by that? Scared of who? I’m going to Geneva let them come. You know there is something called self-defence? Abegi!” I will go to America or a place I have a function to attendt to. The solution is not in attacking the politicians.

Speaking on the solution to Nigeria’s problem which he believes should be followed instead of attacking politicians,
Amaechi stated that the Nigerian economy has to be changedfrom consumption to production economy.
Nigeria economy is a consumption economy. We have to changeit from a consumption economy to a productive
economy.

Delta State ------The new leadership of the Delta South chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has visited the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Chief Solomon Funkekeme with a promise to build a stronger unity among party members in the senatorial district.

The Delta South Chairman of the Party, Chief Julius Takeme who led others to the office of the Senior Political Adviser in Asaba, said the focus is to ensure that PDP maintains its dominance in the senatorial district.

The Delta South PDP chairman, Chief Julius Takeme, said the party was solidly on ground in the senatorial district which accounted for the overwhelming victory recorded in the last election.

Chief Takeme, a former Commissioner for Urban Renewal during the first tenure of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa promised to build on the legacies of his predecessor in office.

He said Delta South remains a stronghold of the PDP and was not relenting in the dream of the state and national leadership of the party towards building better party structures from ward to national level.

While congratulating the Senior Political Adviser on his well deserved appointment, Chief Takeme said PDP in the district was already strategizing for the 2023 election and would record greater victory in the election.

The Delta south PDP chairman pleaded that party faithful in the district be appreciated for their role in the last election to encourage them to work harder for the 2023 election.

The Senior Political Adviser to the Governor of Delta state, Hon Funkekeme Solomon, charged Chief Takeme and his team to maintain the track record of victory for the PDP in the senatorial district.

Hon Solomon noted that Delta South PDP won all the seats contested in the last elections, describing it as a feat achieved through hard work and determination of party faithful in the district to propagate the ideals of the party and the giant strides of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

The Senior Political Adviser said the ability of PDP stakeholders in Delta south to avoid the pitfalls of impunity and imposition of candidates which worked against the party at the national level in 2015, helped to boost the integrity and credibility of the party in the senatorial district, giving it an edge over the opposition.

He urged PDP members in the district to reach out to the grassroots ahead of the 2023 election to be able to win more members and consolidate the party’s victory in that part of the state, adding that the party should be united and focused at the unit, ward and local government levels of the senatorial district.

Hon Solomon assured party faithful in the senatorial district that Governor Okowa and the leadership of the party at the state level were appreciative of the role they played in the last election and would reward them accordingly.

The Senior Political Adviser, however, reminded them that it would not be possible to give appointment to all and urged them to be patient and continually supportive of the Okowa administration.

The Delta South PDP chairman, Chief Julius Takeme was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary of the party, Delta South, Mr. John Okorolotor, the State Treasurer of the Party, Mr Macaulay Deighan and the Chairmen of the party in the Eight Local governments areas of Delta South and among others.

*Ekere vs Udom*

_...Udom’s wobbling and chequered defence ends crudely_

_...last-minute effort ends in a disaster.

Justice T.

Uyo State ----Nothing could be more uninspiring than the woeful and sordid defence of Deacon Udom Emmanuel at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Uyo. At its sitting of Thursday, August 22nd2019 the Tribunal again presided over a lack lustre defence which marked the end of an odd legal battle that ended crudely as lead counsel, Assam Assam (SAN) announced that 1st Respondent has concluded his case. Deacon Emmanuel who was a candidate of the PDP is defending his purported victory in a petition filed at the Tribunal by Obong Nsima Ekere, candidate of the APC in the last governorship election. A keen follower of proceedings at the Tribunal, Chief Gabriel Udo commented that it must be a huge relief for Udom and his legal team who from the commencement of their defence have had uneasy and difficult task to secure witnesses in defence of the peoples mandate roguishly handed him by INEC.

It will be recalled that at the end of its proceedings on 25th July 2019, Tribunal adjourned to Monday 29th with specific order for the 1st Respondent to commence defence when the Tribunal does reconvene. Despite 4 solid days of recess, 1st Respondent Counsel Assam Assam (SAN) returned on the said date to seek leave of court for additional 2 days adjournment to 31st July on very flimsy grounds. Though Tribunal Chairman, Justice A. M. Yakubu expressed displeasure at the request stressing that time is of essence in election petition matters, he nevertheless granted 1st Respondent application within the spectrum of the 10days allotted by the Tribunal for his defence. The case was accordingly adjourned to Wednesday, 31st July 2019.

Signs that something was amiss and ominous became apparent when the Tribunal resumed sitting on the adjourned date and 1st Respondent commenced his defence with a global witness, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem who was deployed to tender questionable CTC of collated election results delivered by INEC from the various strata of the election – units, wards, local government and state. The results tendered were incomprehensive and not exhaustive as it did reflect election results for the 2,980 polling units in the state where all results were expected to be generated from.  Besides the election results tendered by 1st respondent, it seems no further or additional documents were tendered as exhibit to demonstrate that Deacon Emmanuel won the election in conformity with the Electoral Guidelines.

Since Udom commenced defence on 31st July, he has indulged in a fruitless effort to defend a fraudulent electoral victory purportedly won on the strength of concocted and conspiratorially delivered results. The first 15 witnesses RW1 – RW15 called to testify in his favour tried unsuccessfully to defend election results of their respective units and wards compiled by INEC and tendered by 1st Respondent. These results largely lacking in transparency and credibility has been judiciously attacked and controverted both in content and context by the Petitioner who have shown through multiplicity of evidence via hard exhibits and witness testimonies the fraud and infractions inherent in the results.

Sensing defeat following the robust advocacy and legal representation of the Petitioners and having failed to make impactful judicial defence, Udom changed tactics and resorted to assailing the character of APC witnesses in a wilful attempt to water-down the veracity of the petitioner’s witness testimonies. In doing so, 1st respondent went after APC’s PW14 in Oruk Anam, PW15 in Nsit Atai, PW6 in Etim Ekpo, PW3 in Ibesikpo/Asutan, PW37 in Ukanafun and others.

A more vicious attempt to slander the image of petitioners and bring their integrity to disrepute was conceived and hatched when 1st respondent shopped and secured the services of Elder Enefiok Ekefre; a dubious political merchant of old. Elder Ekefre has traversed many political parties and is reputed as a professional witness. The fact is that Elder Enefiok Ekefre was found to be a rogue element as evidenced in his long and chequered political history. Signs of his deviant tendencies manifested quite early and he was expelled by the Party. His attempt to discredit and ridicule APC was thwarted by the vigilance and legal dexterity of petitioner’s counsel.

With no more witnesses on his list to present, Udom embarked on a unilateral journey to procure subpoenaed witnesses without the order of court and knowledge of the petitioner. Notwithstanding petitioners objection and upon leave of the Tribunal, Udom brought-forth as subpoenaed witnesses the trio of Elder Okon Patrick Albert, erstwhile chairman NUJ Akwa Ibom chapter, Ogbole Emmanuel Iyanda, chairman, Arewa Peoples Assembly, Akwa Ibom chapter and Edidiong Udo who claimed to be a forensic and ICT expert. No doubt, Udom intended through these subpoenaed witnesses to lend credence and validate his purported victory by their testimonies. Okon Albert was an accredited INEC election observer and monitoring Agent. He claimed to have traversed 5 LGs on the day of election and adjudged the election free fair and transparent. Same was expected of Ogbole Iyanda who on examination told the Tribunal that he monitored the election in Arewa communities across the state and adjudged the election as free and peaceful. Interestingly, testimony of both witnesses turned out lame and weak; not grounded on the foundation of truth and law. Their testimony was easily quashed at cross examination as their merchandise (lies) kitted in their pouch failed to fly by the alertness and response of petitioner.

The most intriguing of Udom’s hastily subpoenaed witnesses are Mr. Edidiong Udo, the self-styled forensic and ICT expert and Mr. Ikpong Joseph Inyang, INEC presiding Officer (PO) for ward 4, Obot Akara LGA. Their appearance attests to the desperation of 1st Respondent because these witnesses letter of subpoena and/or witness statements were served on the petitioner barely a couple of hours to the witness scheduled appearance. Most importantly, both were engaged by Udom to analyse and controvert the testimony and video evidence tendered by PW44 which showed mass thumb printing of votes at the residence of Senator Chris Ekpenyong on March 9th2019. On cross examination, Edidiong Udo failed to demonstrate his proficiency as an expert in the field of forensic science and ICT. Infact he turned out an impostor and political jobber as he was not conversant with rudiments of his trade and profession. On cross examination, he could not provide answers to demonstrate elementary knowledge expected of a professional in his purported field.

The last-ditch effort made by Udom to defend his deceitful mandate was the appearance of subpoenaed witness Ikpong Joseph Inyang, the INEC PO whom by his words and conduct seem to have attended the Tribunal prepared to lie. The witness on examination tendered unauthenticated and unverifiable INEC documents to the Tribunal. He countered the person and witness testimony of PW44 respecting what happened in unit 005 of ward 4, Obot Akara LGA and averred that one Ifeyinwa Pricilla Ifeanyi (female) was the PO for unit 005 and not the gentleman pointed at in the video as alleged by PW44. On cross examination by petitioner, a supposedly trained INEC PO could not state with clarity the process of accreditation nor the various circumstances that constitutes over-voting hence nullification of results. Witness dismissed as irrelevant questions put to him suggesting situations of over-voting contrary to what is envisaged by the Electoral Act. Petitioner called for 3 sets of exhibits that were shown to the witness to prove that there was no accreditation of voters in the whole of Obot Akara LG. Furthermore, there was over-voting in units 003, 004, 005, 006, 007 and 008 of ward 4, Obot Akara which he presided over as INEC staff and to vitiate his lies that election was free and fair in the LG. Witness was challenged and urged to produce for the attention of the Tribunal statements of oath of neutrality consistent with INEC guidelines for each of the POs and APOs listed in exhibits RS 27 and 28 otherwise described as plain paper by petitioner to ascertain the source and genuineness of the exhibits. That nailed the fortune and future of a mercantile witness; an INEC staff who ought to be an impartial umpire but was seen in words and conduct exuding lies for a pittance.

Ikpong Inyang was visibly confused and disoriented at the end of the cross examination to the extent that he lost consciousness and couldn’t get out of the witness box when asked by the Tribunal chairman to do so.

That brought to an abrupt end the ill-prepared and chequered defence of Udom Emanuel who as authoritatively reported has been deserted for his “evostic” tendencies.

....Says Ayakoromo Bridge, Kiagbodo Agbodobiri Road, Ogbobagbene Ojobo Road Needs Attention.

Francis Tayor

Burutu_____ A social cultural political interest group under the auspices of Concerned Citizens For lzon-Ebe Development (CCFID), has urged the members representing Burutu North and South Constituencies in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon.Asupa Forteta and Hon.Pullah Ekpotuayerin to wake up their legislative business, stressing that the duo should start projecting the problems facing the people of Burutu before the Delta State government and other development agencies for attention.

The group also commended the members representing Warri South-West, Udu and Uvwie Constituencies in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon.Dennis Emomotimi Guwor, Hon.Uviejitobor Peter and Hon.Solomon Ighrakpata on their timely legislative alertness by drawing the attention of Delta State government, as well as other interventionist development agencies to the plight of their people.

The group in a Press Statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Oyinbi Onduku said; " Most first time members in the State House of Assembly have started making case for their people. Why my Constituency reps are yet to speak for us. Is it that they don't know the problems of Burutu people? Burutu people urgently needs the completion of Ayakoromo bridge, so as to connect road network to Burutu. The road from Ogbobagbene to Ojobo, Kiagbodo to Agbodobiri road etc needs government attention."

" It is expected that, our elected representatives should earlier raise their voices before the state government in respect of the needs of their constituencies for prompt attention.

Incase Hon.Asupa and Hon.Pullah is not aware, the first time member representing Warri South-West Constituency, Hon. Guwor Emomotimi has started registering students for JAMB as Scholarship for his Constituency Education Support Programme.

What are the  programmes of Asupa and Pullah for Burutu Constituency students. They should start working, much is expected from them by Burutu people, Comrade Oyinbi stated. "

However,  It will interest the good people of Burutu to note that, yesterday Wednesday 21st August, 2019 after sitting in Asaba, the member representing Udu Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon (Chief.) Peter Uviejitobor while addressing the Press, advocated for a bridge project across Enerhen River to connect Opete Community, as well as to control traffic and complement the aged long popular Udu bridge in Udu local government area.

Also, his Uvwie counterpart, Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata advocated for his people by charging the newly inaugurated Board of Warri, Uvwie and Environs Special Development Agency to quickly as a matter of urgency tackle the issue of dilapidated roads and epileptic power supply in the area.

But it was very unfortunate that, the members representing Burutu Constituencies dodge the Press, keep mute and nothing to say.

It was based on this ground, the group called on Hon.Asupa Forteta and Hon.Pullah Ekpotuayerin to as a matter of urgency wake up to be up and doing to exercise their legislative functions, the statement adds.

Recall that on Sunday, August 18, 2019, the Exemplification Honour of the Knights of St. John from the Grand Master, Nigerian Temple of Noble and Exalted Knights of the Holy Cross Knight of St. John International was conferred on the Ministerial nominee for his services to the Order and humanity at the Pope John Paul ll Catholic Center, Abuja.

He stressed that the Delta State government will no longer condone any criminal acts across the state.

According to the Senior Special Assistant said; " On behalf of my dear family, the People Democratic Party, PDP,  the good people of Warri North Local government Area and the entire Ijaw people of our great Delta State, I sincerely express my heartfelt gratitude to our respected and most revered number one  citizen of Delta State, his Excellency Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi.A.Okowa and others for deeming it fit after finding me worthy to be appointed as his senior special assistant on security.

Gentlemen of the press the state is disturbed of pirates frequent attacks on commercial transporters and residents among riverside dwellers from Warri to Burutu, to Agge Delta boundaries, From Warri to Escravos, to Warri North Rivers of the state. We are very much concerned about it. It is our warning that such criminal elements should clear off our water ways as the state will no longer pardon their criminal acts and that any one caught will be dealt with as a common criminal. I want to assure the riverside dwellers and travellers in the state that the state government would soon roll out waterways patrol which may finally put to an end of pirates attacks as experienced today.

Another concern of the state is the unabated increase of cultism in our dear state. The act of this miscreants have destroyed night life in our cities and communities. Law abiding citizens are harassed and intimated on daily basis. It makes life uncomfortable in the state, and the state can no longer condone it. We are assuring Deltans that the security apparatus will do more to address this menace. We are aware that the abuse of use of drugs by the young generation is alarming, expect drastic actions are taken to forestall it, it will end up turning our young youths to nuisance. The authorities saddled with such powers to checkmate drug related crimes should step up more efforts to stop this menace in Delta society before it is too late."

I also want to assure the good people of Delta State that the highlighted societal issues such as herdsmen attacks, drug abuse, cultism and sea pirate amongst the youths will be brought to the barest minimum if not outrightly eradicated from the facets, our traditional Delta state society.

I equally want to assure all Deltans that I will join hands with all the security agencies and other government organs to make sure that all multinational companies/organisation that has fled Delta State to relocate back to a more secure and peaceful Delta State,so that our teeming youths will be gainfully engaged and taken off the streets.

But I want to make it known that governance  is a collective agenda, it is not a sole responsibility of our dear governor or security agents alone but it is a collective responsibility. So to arrive at a most prosperous, secure and peaceful Delta State all hands must be on deck.

Therefore , I advice all Deltans to join hands with his Excellency in the full realization of his SMART AGENDA project in our melancholy to retain the pinnacle of asterism to other states and Nigerians, the statement adds.

Niger Delta ------- Chairman of the Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas, Bishop Mike Emuh, has given the thumbs up to the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, for giving qualitative representation to the people of the oil producing communities and the Niger Delta.

Hostcom stand on Senator Omo-Agege’s actions so far. He is a pride to all of us. When he talks he does that with a sense of commitment and realisation.

Oil companies that are leaving the Niger Delta and relocating to Lagos are disobeying the laws of this country. The local content act stipulates that when you operate in a community you should develop that community and reside there. You don’t operate in the Niger Delta and reside in Lagos.

Senator Omo-Agege is among others calling on the oil companies that have left the Niger Delta for Lagos to return. He is saying that oil blocs should be allotted to the people of the region. He is saying that oil pipelines surveillance contract should be given to our youths. His agitations and philosophies are the same with ours,” Bishop Emuh stated.

Bishop Emuh expressed happinness on the recent reconciliation of the splinter groups within the Hostcom. He said that the action will now make the organisation to speak with one voice in its agitations and thus have concrete achievements.

He appealed to the executives of the Delta State chapter of Hostcom to work in harmony with the newly reconstituted board of the Delta State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC for the betterment of the living condition of the people.

We should support Governor Okowa (of Delta State) and the DESOPADEC so that rapid development can be brought to bear on the oil and gas producing communities in the state,” he concluded.

Just in: Clash as Ijaw youths stop Asari Dokubo from holding Biafran meeting in Bayelsa.

Clash as Ijaw youths stop Asari Dokubo from holding Biafran meeting in Bayelsa.

Justice T.

A bloody clash was averted on Saturday by the police in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, following failed attempts by a former militant leader and Niger Delta activist, Asari Dokubo, to hold an expanded inaugural meeting in support of Biafra.

It was gathered that the Chairman of Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), Central Zone, Kennedy Olorogun, got wind of the Biafran meeting and mobilized his executive council members and other youths to the venue of the gathering.

Olorogun was said to be angry that Dokubo chose Bayelsa, a homogeneous Ijaw state, to hold such meeting and ordered the founder of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF) to leave the state or face the wrath of the youths.

It was learnt that Dokubo, who recently declared his support for the actualisation of Biafra, gathered over 300 persons from across the states in the South-East and South-South to hold the meeting.

The meeting was reportedly convened under the auspices of the Biafra National Council (BNC) and not the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Confirming the development, Olorogun said over 300 persons including Dokubo were  already gathered at a hotel in Yenagoa when he led Ijaw youths to the place.

He said quarrel ensued between him and Dokubo when he told the former militant leader that the meeting would not hold in Ijawland.

“When we got the information, we stormed the venue of the meeting to stop them.

“They tried to resist us but we told them we were prepared for them because we will not allow any part of Bayelsa to be used for a meeting calling for the actualisation of Biafra.

“I wonder why Dokubo decided to bring such meeting to Bayelsa. But we stopped them.

“It was getting out of hand but the police intervened to stop possible violence. My happiness is that we stopped the meeting from holding, olorogun alleged.

Gov. Dickson offsets payment of N104bn  inherited bond  from Sylva's administration ...IGR surpasses N1bn
....calls for peaceful transition.

Bayelsa State Government on Friday said it has completely  defrayed the N104 billion bond loan inherited from the Timipre Sylva administration.

The state Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Maxwell Ebibai disclosed this during the monthly transparency briefing for the Months of June and July, 2019 in Yenagoa.

"And as a government, our concern is that it carries the assets and liabilities of every government. We have taken on that responsibility painfully and we are done with it.

"There is nothing wrong with a government deciding to do deficit financing but what is important is what we are using it for and we have put it behind us as a state."

Presenting the revenues and expenditures for the month of July, Mr. Ebibai said in the month of June, it recorded an internally generated revenue of N1.5 billion as against N910m in May.

He noted that the gross income from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee, (FAAC), stood at N11.6 billion, while total FAAC deductions amounted to N1.1 billion.

Hon. Iworiso-Markson who was full of gratitude to Bayelsans for their support to the Dickson administration, urged the people to maintain the peace and ensure a smooth and hitch-free transition programme.
